Waiting

I prayed for patience long ago,
Not knowing what this might bring.
Be careful what you ask for,
You may get that very thing.

He didn't bless me with patiences
The way I thought He would.
He said, "You must learn it.
It is all for your own good."

How do you learn it, you may ask.
Well, trials may come your way.
You learn to put it in the Master's hands,
You fall on your knees and pray.

Waiting and waiting on my Lord,
It's the hardest trial I've had.
He wants me to learn to lean more on Him,
And to wait with a heart that's glad.

My faith has grown so gradually,
I never knew how much was there.
Then this trial came my way,
Now I give Him thanks, for the power of prayer.

Each trial has brought me closer to Him,
And when I think I can bear no more,
He's right beside me to lift me up,
Til my strength is renewed by my Lord.

One thing I've learned through all the trials,
His timing is always best.
So wait on the Lord, be of good courage,
Seek Him first and find your rest.

Psalm 27:14

Wait on the Lord, and be of good courage
and He shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.
